Ukraine and Russia made tentative progress in talks Monday but failed to reach an agreement to create a “humanitarian corridor” from the cities being beaten, when bloodshed from the Moscow invasion increased.
Kyiv said there had been “positive results” from the third round of negotiations, focused on providing evacuation routes of civilians from surrounded cities, but Russia said the expectations of the “unfulfilled” conversation.
Russia said it would open a humanitarian corridor on Tuesday from 0700 GMT, subject to Ukrainian approval. Ukraine previously rejected the Russian proposal for the humanitarian corridor of Kharkiv City, Kyiv, Mariupol and Sumy, because many routes lead directly to Russia or Ally Belarus.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he did not send military service or reserve to fight and that the “Professional” soldier that meets the “fixed goal” leads the war in Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky renewed the call for the West to boycott Russian exports, especially oil, and to impose zones without flies to stop the massacre.
More than 1.7 million people have escaped from Ukraine since Russia launched a full-scale invasion on February 24.
